I have a confession. I’m not the greatest at using twitter. Everyone has their preferences. However, if you’re looking for new resources to stay up to date on ways to improve your writing or get published, Twitter has a lot of amazing content.

I’ve gone through a lot of twitter references to find the best ones to start with. The secret is not to go too far into that rabbit hole! You’ll easily get distracted and lost. Here is a list of resources that you can go to, from writer resources, writers, to book news and reviews.

Book News & Reviews

This is a collection of twitter accounts recommended by Elissa Field and the Write Life:

@nytimesbooks – New York Times Books

@nybooks – NY Review of Books

@latimesbooks – LA Times Books

@guardianbooks – Guardian Books

@galleycat – One of the best book review sites around with a massive following

Writer Resources

@janefriedman –Jane teaches digital media and publishing at UVA and tweets frequently on anything from publishing to promoting your work

@JonathanGunson – if you’re interested in social media and getting traffic to your blog, this is the guy to follow. Provides a lot of valuable information on everything related to emedia.

@JFbookman – looking at self – publishing? This is the guy to follow

@thewritelife –  I really like these guys. Not only do you get great writing tips, but they cover marketing to blogging to publishing to freelancing.

@poetswritersinc – I find their tweets too ‘noisy’, but there are always some nuggets of information in there for the creative writer in you
