What 2000 NaNoWriMo Writers Can Teach You About Finishing Your Novel
Looking for some real practical strategies to finishing your NaNoWriMo novel?
Then you’ll want to go over the results of a survey of 2000 NaNoWriMo writers that the Stop Productivity blog did. They not only asked the writers about their general strategies to finish their novels, but also how to stay creative under pressure and be able to manage the writing while leading busy lives.
The results are posted in the infographic below. What I got out of this is that everyone is different. We all follow different strategies to keep ourselves productive. I get most of my grunt work done if I wake up early in the morning. However, I get most of my creative work done if I work late at night. That’s why I change up my sleep habits depending on what I’m trying to achieve. The key is to be flexible in your approach and do what resonates with you.
Another key point is to not be afraid of trying something new. Overcome your fears and you’ll be much better after November is over. The positive outcome of challenging yourself during November is that 33% of the writers actually continued with the daily habit of writing. Plan out what you are going to do today. Not November. You’ll think me in December!
